International Teachers

Are you an International teacher?

Are you looking to visit and work in the UK? East Anglia is a great place to start.

CCES is available to support you through your transition phase and to help you secure long or short term assignments whilst staying in the UK.

We have a number of overseas teachers registered with us who enjoy working in British schools. Many teachers do not wish to work in some of the larger cities and seek job opportunities in towns and rural areas. They therefore chose to work in regions such as East Anglia, where CCES is located.

CCES is based in Colchester in north Essex. It is a thriving town with very good travel links to other towns and cities.  Central London is about an hour’s drive and fifty minutes if you take the train. Stansted airport is only a forty minute drive.

All the towns of north Essex and southern Suffolk are surrounded by beautiful countryside and it is only a short fifteen mile drive to the coast.

Colchester has much to offer there are plenty of bars and restaurants both in the town centre and in the surrounding villages. The town also boasts a cinema, a leisure centre, a castle, a number of museums and art galleries, a theatre, an arts centre and a university. Whatever you enjoy, Colchester will be able to meet your needs!

Qualification Requirements:

International Teachers

All international teachers must have a teaching qualification with UK equivalency.

Overseas trained teachers (OTTs) are defined as people who have qualified as teachers in a country outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland having successfully completed a course of initial teacher training which is recognised by the relevant authorities in their home countries.

To check this equivalency visit The National Academic Recognition Information centre for the U.K. The website is: www.naric.org.uk

Overseas trained teachers may teach in state maintained schools and non-maintained special schools in England as unqualified teachers for four calendar years. This is known as the four year rule and it applies to teachers who qualified in countries outside of the EEA and Switzerland except for teachers who qualified in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States of America (USA).

Information regarding current legislation and QTS for OTTs can be found by using to following link:
